Merge PDF Files
Your files stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on a server.
Drop your files here
or pick them from your device
How it works
- Drop your PDF files onto the bench in the order you want them joined, or pick them from your device.
- Check the list. To change the order, clear it and add the files again in the right sequence.
- Press Merge, then download the single combined PDF.
Merging is the PDF job people do most, and it is also the one where a small detail bites most often: order. The pages come out in the order the files went in. Add the cover letter first and the CV second, and that is how they will read. Add them the other way round by accident and you will only notice when someone opens the result. Look at the list before pressing the button.
What survives the merge is the page content — text, images, vector drawings, and the page sizes, which can be mixed freely. What does not come across is the scaffolding around the pages: bookmarks in the sidebar, the outline, a table of contents that jumps to pages, and any link that points from one page to another. Those live outside the pages themselves, and a merge that only copies pages leaves them behind. Form fields are kept as they are but are not flattened, so a fillable form stays fillable.
File size is roughly the sum of the inputs. Nothing is recompressed and nothing is deduplicated, so if the same large logo appears in four of the files, it is stored four times in the result. That is normal, and it is also why a merged PDF can be surprisingly big.
Password-protected files cannot be merged at the moment. If one of yours is locked, remove the password in the program that made it and try again. Everything else — scanned documents, files exported from Word, PDFs from a phone camera — goes through the same way.
Questions people ask
- How do I control the order of the pages?
- The files are joined in the order they appear in the list, which is the order you added them. If it is wrong, press Clear and add the files again in the sequence you want. Dragging to reorder is not available yet.
- Are bookmarks and links kept?
- No. Bookmarks, the document outline and links that jump between pages are stored outside the pages and are not copied. The visible content of every page is preserved exactly.
- Can I merge files with different page sizes?
- Yes. Each page keeps its own size and orientation, so a landscape A3 drawing can sit between two portrait A4 letters. Nothing is scaled or cropped.
- Why is the merged file so large?
- Because it is essentially all of the input files stacked together. Nothing is compressed further, and images that appear in several inputs are stored again for each one.
- Can I merge a password-protected PDF?
- Not at the moment. The tool will tell you the file is encrypted and stop. Remove the password with the program that created the file, then merge it.
- Do the files leave my computer?
- No. The merge is done by your browser on this page. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing is stored anywhere after you close the tab.
